About the event
Hosted by Arrow Adventure and Metroparks of Butler County, this two-day, 16-hour course will be taught by Remarkable Training Solutions, First Response Education. This husband and wife team both have extensive experience in administering emergency care, as a career firefighter and nurse.
We'll meet at Chrisholm Historic Farmstead from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The course is primarily a lecture learning style with some practical applications.
Wilderness first aid is a training course that focuses on prevention, assessment, and treatment for an ill or injured person
in a remote environment where definitive care by a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.
This course is great for people of all experience levels and is best suited for those who recreate outdoors where EMS response can be expected in a timely manner (fewer than eight hours). You'll learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. There are no prerequisites. Feel free to bring your first aid kit to discuss and review.
